If you’re planning on participating in our hands-on electronics workshop on Friday, there’s still time to order the parts kit (http://bit.ly/glow-parts). But you need to do it Real Soon Now! We got the price down by about $9 from the previous total. The supplier is in Texas so they’re very central to the country, and standard USPS shipping ($8) should only take a few days. If you’re coming in from out of town, you could buy yourself an extra day or so by having the kit shipped to you c/o the Doubletree (that way it won’t have to come to you before you leave for your trip).
Non-participating observers are still welcome, but you’ll learn much more from actual hands-on! Either way, we hope to see you there.
Last call for this event! This tea event will be on Saturday, May 12, 1 p.m. for an additional $55; it is worth it. During the tea, there will be a fashion show of "Captains and Beachwear Through the Ages".

Welcome to Costume-Con! - Friday at 11 am and Saturday at 9 am
Let us be the first to welcome you to your first Costume-Con. We'll try to address all the little things that make Costume-Con different, and help you orient yourself to all that's on offer.
Masquerade Basics (panel) - Friday at noon
Whether you're entering the masquerade or only just now thinking about doing so in the future, we'll cover what you can expect; from registration through rehearsals, in the green room and after you've come off the stage.
What is the ICG? (panel) - Friday at 3 pm
What is the International Costumers Guild and how is it involved with Costume-Con? What are the benefits to being a member and how does one go about finding a chapter local to them?
Ice Breakers (meetup) - Friday at 5 pm
Whether you're new to costuming or just new to Costume-Con, come mix and mingle with others in a similar boat. Find a new friend to sit with at the social or bond with someone who's also competing for the first time.

Just a word on Hall Costume awards:
A Hall Costume is a costume worn by convention members while they wander the halls and attend panels. These are not eligible for entry into the Masquerades for competition, but can be entered as exhibition only. There will be awards given for particularly creative and original Hall Costumes by special judges.
Hall Costumes can be original, purchased, rented, or can be something you haven't worn in years. You can also wear a costume you've worn in a Masquerade previously and won prizes for. Your creativity doesn't stop when you step off the stage, so show off your hard work!
Masquerade/contest competitors may wear costumes or partial costumes in the halls from their hotel room/car to go to their prospective event. Also, you may leave the green room area to use the facilities as needed. We try to keep Masquerade costumes a surprise for the audience, so please prepare accordingly. If you are approached by a Hall Costume judge while in the common areas, please inform them you are in competition.
