Airport Transportation

You can also get here via the San Diego trolley, part of the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS). From the airport, take bus route 992 to the Broadway and Kettner bus stop. Then walk about an eighth of a mile north on Kettner to the Santa Fe Depot trolley station and take the Sycuan (Green) trolley line north to the Hazard Center stop. The trolley direction will be indicated as "to Santee". Get off at the Hazard Center station. The hotel will be less than a thousand feet to the west.

A day pass on the MTS covers trolleys and buses, is just $5, and can be bought at the airport or on your smartphone. Or you can buy a four-day pass for $17 (includes $2 for a refillable "Compass Card"). There are signs and ticket vending machines all over the airport for this, and machines at every trolley stop.

NOTE: Google Maps, and possibly other systems, may suggest a different way to use the trolley from the airport: take the "blue line" of the airport's free parking shuttle to the Palm Street stop, then walk up Palm Street to the Middletown Trolley station. From there, take the Sycuan Green Line north ("to Santee") to the Hazard Center stop. However, the walk up Palm Street has a significant climb and the sidewalk is not particularly smooth. We don’t recommend it, especially if you have much in the way of baggage, and suggest getting assistance via another form of transportation.

You will probably find the trolley very useful throughout the convention. It can take you to Old Town, Little Italy, the Gaslamp District, and many other places that would otherwise require a car. You can find out more about schedules, passes, and fares here:

Why Stay at the Hotel

Costume-Con runs all day and late into the night, with many evening events. You’ll be able to enjoy all of these things more, and with less stress, when you are staying on site.

The con reservation code not only gets you a reduced room rate and parking charge, it also gives us credit for the rooms so that we get the function space for free. If we do not make our room block, we have to pay for the space. We’d much rather spend your membership money on you than with the hotel.

Please take a room at the DoubleTree when you become a member of Costume-Con 36.

Thank you.
